Seaside Oregon

"More than just a day at the beach"

Seaside's expansive two-mile promenade invites you to stroll along and enjoy panoramic views of the blue Pacific Ocean. However, what makes Seaside so unique is its extraordinary blend of recreational activities, entertainment, and culture.

Whether you're interested in beach volleyball, evening cookouts, golfing, horseback riding, exquisite food, or shopping sprees, Seaside guarantees you more than just a day at the beach. Seaside, has something for everyone. Visitors can literally dine and shop their way from one end of Broadway to the other.

Miles of pristine beach provide a multitude of activities such as kite flying, beach volleyball, bike (three-wheeled bikes) riding, sandcastle building, razor clam digging (in season), boogie boarding, surfing, and of course, long walks along the shoreline.

In close proximity there are three golf courses, miles of hiking trails, fishing and crabbing, parks, picnic grounds, factory outlet stores, even an aquatic center, library and skateboard park.

Stay at Seaside and visit the Lewis & Clark sites in the area.

The magnificent journey of two American explorers and a native American girl who guided them across the continental wilderness west to the Pacific Coast ended here. See the "trail's end" marked by a huge bronze statue in the center of the Seaside's infamous turnaround. The Salt-works in Seaside is the location of their western most encampment by the members of the expedition.

Ecola State Park in Cannon Beach is the south western most point of the exploration reached by members of this expedition. This is where a whale washed ashore and the expedition members traded with the native Americans for blubber and oil. Enjoy beautiful views of Haystack Rock as well as views of the lighthouse just offshore.

While here, also stop in at the Astoria Column. In a wooded park and towering above Astoria, Oregon’s highest hill, the Astoria Column presents a spectacular view of the city and surrounding rivers, bay, forest, mountains and Pacific Ocean.Built in 1926, it is 125 feet high and has 164 steps winding to the top.
